This my first attempt at knitting a sock. I'm following instructions found in the Basic Sock Pattern in the book Learn To Knit Socks, from the American School of Needlework (ISBN 0-88195-871-9). I picked it up at A.C. Moore yesterday (Dec. 2). The only yarn I had that's even close to sock weight is some baby wool I got at The World In Stitches (LYS in Littleton), so I started with that on size 2 DPNs. I didn't follow the pattern exactly (obviously), because I was using this as a learning tool), and it sorta looks like something mutated horribly... but the tricky bits (heel turn, gusset, toe decrease and the Kitchener stitch which grafts the toe) are what I was concerned with, and they turned out all right (I need to practice Kitchener!).
